Sylo Acoustic Panels: Choosing Between iC55 and iC37

Not every acoustic brief calls for a full stretch ceiling. In an existing office, a meeting room with a fixed soffit or a retail space with services overhead, the better answer is often a set of acoustic panels placed exactly where the sound is a problem. That is what Sylo is designed for.

What Sylo is

Sylo is NeviTec's panel-based acoustic system. Each panel is a rigid frame with a high-density acoustic core, wrapped in premium Ecophon acoustic fabric. The fabric is sound-transparent, so sound passes straight through to the core, where it is absorbed rather than reflected back into the room. The result is a clean, frameless panel with no visible hardware, which suits minimalist interiors.

Both Sylo profiles are rated Class A for sound absorption, the highest of the five absorber classes in EN ISO 11654, and are effective against both office chatter and lower-frequency mechanical hum.

Sylo iC55

  • 55 mm structural frame.

  • 50 mm high-density acoustic core, for maximum absorption per panel.

  • Mounts flush to a wall, fixes close to the ceiling with torsion-spring hardware, or hangs on adjustable cables as a floating "cloud".

  • Rigid frame resists bowing and sagging, even on larger custom sizes.

iC55 is the default choice where there is room for it: open-plan offices, boardrooms, restaurants and classrooms.

Sylo iC37

  • Slimmer 37 mm frame.

  • 30 mm acoustic core.

  • The same mounting options as iC55: wall, close-fixed ceiling or cable-suspended.

iC37 is designed for spaces where every millimetre counts: low ceilings, refurbishments with limited headroom, and walls where a deeper panel would project too far into a corridor or meeting room. Its core is tuned for the mid-to-high frequencies of human speech, which is usually the main complaint in these rooms.

How to choose

  • Ceiling height and headroom. If a deeper panel would feel heavy or clash with door heads and lighting, start with iC37.

  • The noise you are treating. For general reverberation in a larger, harder room, iC55's deeper core gives more absorption per panel.

  • Wall or ceiling. Both work on walls. On walls at head height, the slimmer iC37 is often the neater detail.

  • Visual rhythm. Cable-suspended clouds read as a deliberate design feature; close-fixed panels sit almost flush with the soffit.

  • Lighting. If the room also needs light, consider pairing Sylo with NeviTec light panels, or using our NT100A acoustic light panel in the same plane.

Sylo, Baff or a stretch ceiling?

Sylo treats the ceiling or wall plane with discrete panels. Baff is our vertical baffle system, which intercepts sound travelling across a room and is the better choice in atriums and canteens with exposed services or skylights. An acoustic stretch ceiling treats the entire ceiling as one seamless surface. In larger projects, the three are often combined.

Made in Wellingborough

Sylo is manufactured in our Wellingborough facility and installed by our own teams or accredited partners, with a 10-year warranty on every installation. Acoustic systems are priced from a 2026 guide range of £95–160 per m², supplied and installed; your exact price depends on a survey.

See the full specification and download the datasheet on the Sylo page, or ask our team for a sound-absorption assessment of your space.
