Sikh Temple – Siri Guru Singh Sabha –Northampton. – “Under Construction”
The main contractor for the Sikh Temple in Northampton has been awarded to
Nevitec Construction Ltd. It was felt that a project of this magnitude needed specific knowledge of the culture and traditions of the local and international Sikh community to ensure its deliverance. Being awarded after the tendering process, this contract has been unusual in its performance as so many special features, terms and conditions came in to play, which could not have been accomplished by a conventional contractor. From such specialised items as coloured glass windows – 7.5m tall x 0.5m wide, a barrel-vaulted insulated aluminium roof of over 300m2, a community hall of approximately 400m2, with under-floor heating, a bespoke kitchen to cater for hundreds of community members and visitors alike, and bespoke “stretch ceilings” and “architectural lighting”, which Nevitec have manufactured locally - this project has been a successful challenge.
